KSL test dusts

Not every application is covered by a suitable standard test dust. Over the years, we have therefore defined and produced various special test dusts in cooperation with our customers. Some of these have established themselves and are regularly produced now.

In addition, a wide range of different dusts and sands from a variety of material classes are available (e.g. minerals, metals, salts, plastics), from which our customers can put together their own tailor-made test dust. Of course, the respective components can also be ordered individually.

Defined KSL test dusts

Selection of numerous, self-developed test dusts for various applications.

KSL test dusts

Test dust TE KSL 220

Test dust alternative to Turkish Emery Grit 220 with almost identical material properties and the same particle size distribution.

Kaolin KSL 520

Alternative to Bell Dark Ball Clay with comparable composition and grain size distribution.

Brasil M5

Synthetically produced test dust from coarse-grained sand based on customer specifications for Brazilian dust.

Arizona dust SAE J726 blend

Mixture of synthetically produced Arizona dust SAE J726 fine and coarse in equal proportions.

Arizona dust extra coarse

Test dust based on synthetically produced Arizona dust SAE J726 in an extra coarse version.

KSL 11046

Test dust with mineral, herbal and organic/animal particles and components, e.g. for simulation of environmental dust or road dirt.

KSL 11047 / KSL 14017 / KSL 14019

Test dust with mineral components and fiber content, e.g. to simulate house dust.

KSL 12050

Particularly abrasive test dust due to great hardness and angular particles, e.g. to simulate high levels of wear.

KSL 14027

Test dust from quartz, cement, gypsum and brick to simulate the typical dirt on construction sites.

KSL 15088

Coarse sand mixture, e.g. for tests in the area of axle and chassis systems of utility vehicles.

KSL spheres

Spherical PMMA beads with constant ((quasi)monodisperse) diameter (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 µm).

Components for tailor-made test dusts

Available materials that can either be ordered individually or mixed to customer specifications.

Components

Large selection of minerals such as quartz (silica), limestone (calcite), corundum, dolomite, muscovite (mica), kaolin, iron oxide, talc or feldspar (albite, microcline) and others on request.

Salts

Selection of different salts such as sodium chloride (NaCl), calcium chloride (CaCl2) or magnesium chloride (MgCl2).

Metals

Metallic powders and particles such as iron, aluminum or copper in various particle sizes.

Plastics

Polyethylene (PE) or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) powders in different grain sizes.

Organic dusts

Powders of starch and sugar as well as other components of plant or animal (insect) origin.

Pigments/dyes

Colored (black, red, blue) or UV-active pigments for coloring test dusts and mixtures.

Fibers

Selection of natural (cotton) and synthetic (viscose, polyamide) fibers of different lengths and diameters.

Carbon dusts

Lamp black, fly ash or carbon black for simulating combustion residues.

Others

Further components are available or can be supplied on request.
